Mr Routley and his family run the Almondvale White Suffolk Stud. Meanwhile, South Australian breeder Anthony Hurst was elected as president of the council.
Mr Hurst, of Avenue Range, South Australia, has served for the past six years on the board.
Other board members include Andrew Krieg, Aylesbury Farm stud, Karoonda, South Australia, and Brenton Addis, Yonga Downs, Gnowangerup, Western Australia.
The balance of the board is Peter Button, South Australia, Mark Grossman, South Australia, Peter Angus, South Australia, Andrew Heinrich, South Australia, John Jamieson, NSW, and Debbie Milne, Victoria.
Mr Hurst runs 500 registered White Suffolk ewes, 150 Suffolk ewes, 1500 commercial ewes and 1000 beef cattle, trading as Seriston Pastoral Company.
He turns off White Suffolk-Merino cross lambs either as suckers at 24kg dressed weight, or finished on bean stubbles to target 26kg carcass weight for Victorian and South Australian processors.
“As seedstock producers, we are passionate about what we do and I wanted to be involved with the breed association,’’ Mr Hurst said. “It’s my turn to put something back into the industry.’’
Mr Hurst, along with seedstock producers Lachy Day and Andrew Frick, has spent the past four years developing a White Suffolk branded lamb product.
