The event on Tuesday, March 27 at Darlington Point will look at ways growers can find efficiencies in terms of yields and water use.
Southern Valleys Cotton Grower Association chairman John Durham said the Monsanto Cotton Grower of the Year Field Day would provide opportunities and insights for people in the industry.
“The theme for this year’s event is finding efficiencies,” he said. The event will be hosted at the Toscan’s farm. This family were the first growers in the region to be awarded the 2017 Monsanto Cotton Grower of the Year Award. “With the cotton harvest just over a month away, they are eager to share their knowledge,” he said.
A highlight of the day will be the opportunity for new growers to network with some of the more seasoned cotton growers throughout the area.
- Daisy Toscan
Daisy Toscan said the Murrumbidgee region was coming to the end of a promising cotton season.
She said the field day was an ideal time for growers to catch up before picking begins. Attendees will have the opportunity to see some new farming methods and discussions will cover precision agriculture, irrigation layouts, weed control and advanced machinery.
“A highlight of the day will be the opportunity for new growers to network with some of the more seasoned cotton growers throughout the area,” Mrs Toscan said.
“Matt and I and the team at Cavaso Farming are looking forward to sharing our industry experience and are encouraging all growers to attend,” Mrs Toscan said.
The event will be at Ringwood, 7491 Kidman Way and starts at 8.30am.
