Hosted by NSW Farmers, the workshop will focus on the intricacies of being a boss including managing and hiring employees, record keeping and award updates.
NSW Farmers industrial relations manager Gracia Kusuma says the role of being a good boss is just as important as the many other roles farmers have in the daily operations of their farm.
“Being a good boss involves constructive communication with employees, maintaining records, knowledge of the relevant awards and their obligations and promotion of safe work practices,” Mrs Kusuma said.
“The world of workplace relations is ever changing and like all other bosses, farmers need to keep up to date with their obligations. Failure to do so could be costly. ”
“Hence we are inviting local farmers along to a free workshop to get the latest information on awards such as the Pastoral and Horticulture Awards, and hiring and terminating workers.”
The workshop also includes a session on succession planning with Holding Redlich lawyers and Prime Super will cover an update on how to best manage superannuation commitments.
The workshop will be held at the Griffith Southside RSL Club, from 12pm to 2pm, on Wednesday 28 March.
