In making the announcement member for Wagga Daryl Maguire said funding grassroots projects was about teaching kids how to live more sustainably.
“These grants are an important investment in our future – research shows that this can help create better environmental awareness later in life.” The Eco Schools Grant Program provides funding for schools to create environmental learning opportunities for students, teachers and the school community.
The project at The Rock is titled little steps, reducing our community’s carbon footprint. The aim of the project is to educate students from Kindergarten to Year 10 on the benefits of recycling organic "waste" and converting this into nutrient rich soil to grow fresh vegetables.
