However, overall it was a success, with the help of the water truck and all the club members and supporters pitching in to make it run smoothly.
The competition in all divisions was strong, but the Albury combination proved dominant winning the open competition.
The A women’s final was a real nail biter, going into extra time for golden goal.
While Yass girls were unlucky to eventually go down, the Yass women’s section of Tara Moaut, Aimee Keogh and Samantha Carter won Best Women’s section for the carnival.
Also, the Yass juniors were runners up with Johnnie Erland winning the Encouragement Sub Junior award.
The Lake George carnival combined with the 2017 Southern Highlands Zones Awards Night.
The zone selectors must have noticed what a good season the Yass Club had, with the following Yass members being recognised:
- Aimee Keogh for Best C Grade Female
- Tara Mouat for Best A Grade Female
- Michael Clark for Best A Grade Male
- Ryan Slater for Player of the Future, and
- Riley Clark for Best Sub Junior Boy.
The Lake George weekend was also the debut for Prue Bucknell, playing in the B/C women’s competition and Riley Clark was named Best Sub Junior Horse and Rider.
During the Easter weekend, the Club went to the coast for some sun and green grass at the Eurocoast carnival.
Again, Yass competitors were in the runners up seats but took a few of the individual awards:
- Olivia Erland: Best Sub Junior Horse and Rider
- Millie Gabler: Junior Encouragement Award in her first Open Division competition
- Michael Woods: best Umpire award.
