On Sunday, the 7th 7th Light Horse Gundagai Troop performed an Anzac Day carnival prelude race day. The secretary treasurer of the troop, Kerrie Stewart, said she was extremely proud of the members for the successful event.
“The four horses were all ex-racehorses, they were all thoroughbreds that raced and we wanted to show there was a life after racing,” she said.
Ms Stewart’s husband, Luke, died in an accident seven months ago and had always dreamed of leading the charge, so yesterday was particularly special for her.
“He would be so proud of us but he would be equally jealous,” she said.
The 7th is a historical reenactment group. For more information: www.facebook.com/7thlighthorseGundagai/about/?ref=page_internal.
