According to Meat and Livestock Australia’s National Livestock Reporting Service numbers lifted at this sale with mutton showing the biggest increase.

Lamb quality was improved slightly from the previous sale with a better run of well finished and grain assisted lambs penned. Heavy and extra heavy weight lambs made up the majority of the yarding.

The usual buyers were present and competing in a dearer market. Light lambs lifted $8 to average $119/head. Trade weights were $7 to $10 dearer to sell from $129 to $158/head. Heavy and extra heavy weight lambs were also $10/head better and more in places. Heavy lambs sold from $148 to $168 and extra heavy weights received from $166 to $229/head. Carcase prices averaged from 620c to 635c/kg cwt. Mutton numbers lifted and mixed quality Merinos made up the majority. Prices lifted with Merino ewes selling from $100 to $144/head. Crossbred ewes sold from $106 to $183 and Dorper ewes received from $90 to $140/head.
