According to Meat and Livestock Australia’s national livestock reporting service quality was plainer. Grown steer and bullocks were in limited numbers. The better vealers to domestic processors sold from 246c to 285c/kg.
The medium weight trade heifers averaged 273c/kg. Trade steers were limited and prices were somewhat distorted due to lack of numbers averaging 289c/kg.
Overall weaner steers and heifers generally sold 20c to 50c/kg cheaper. Lighter weight steers back to the paddock sold from 200c to 272c/kg to average $604/head.
Secondary light weight steers lacking shape declined 50c making from 180c to 198c/kg.
Feeder steers were in shorter supply and light and medium weight steers sold to the usual group of buyers.
Medium weight feeder steers sold 3c cheaper making from 242c to 303c/kg. Feeder heifer prices fluctuated throughout the sale and prices were up to 27c/kg cheaper for heifers weighing from 330-400kg.
The better quality pens of prime finished steers and bullocks made from 256c to 281c/kg. Cow numbers increased and demand was stronger over the mixed quality offering.
Heavy cows topped at 218c to average 203c/kg. The D3 medium weight lifted 14c making from 139c to 192c/kg.
Young cows back to the paddock sold to mixed price trends, making from 120c to 173c/kg.
