Meat and Livestock Australia’s National Livestock Reporting Service indicated that lamb quality was mixed. The usual buyers were present and competing in a dearer market. Trade weight lambs lifted $4 to sell from $122 to $168/head.
Heavy and extra heavy weight lambs were $4 to $6/head better. Heavy lambs sold from $158 to $168 and extra heavies received from $165 to $227/head. Carcase prices averaged from 615c to 665c/kg cwt. Mutton numbers lifted and mixed quality Merinos made up the majority. Prices were similar to previous sales with Merino ewes selling from $106 to $178/head. Crossbred ewes sold from $101 to $168 and Dorper ewes sold from $103 to $147/head.
