Meat and Livestock Australia’s National Livestock Reporting Service states that lamb numbers were steady and the quality was again mixed. Well finished trade and heavy lambs were in short supply and light secondary lambs best supplied. All lambs were in demand from processors and there was little restocker competition. The market was dearer.

The 2 score processing lambs sold from $84 to $115/head. Medium and heavy trade lambs were $1 to $3 dearer and sold from $131 to $167/head.

Heavy lambs sold from $156 to $179/head, averaging from 590c for the heavy weights to 670c/kg cwt for the trade weights. Merino lambs sold to $168 and hoggets reached $175/head.

Mutton numbers were back with plenty of medium weight sheep offered and a few less heavy crossbreds. Prices lifted $1 to $3/head. Medium weight sheep made from $94 to $144/head. Heavy crossbreds made $141 to $166 and Merino wethers sold from 470c to 520c/kg cwt and made $139/head.
