The rodeo timed event, which requires two competitors to head and heel a steer, attracted some of Australia’s best competitors to the Naughty Nines Roping hosted at K Ranch via Mount Hunter.
Mr Kapel, who has worked at the Livestock Marketing Centre for three years, teamed up with Charlie Clancey of Rochester, Victoria to win the sevens incentive. The pair earned cash and a buckle for their efforts. “It felt awesome to do well,” Mr Kapel said after returning home to Wagga from the event.
The event was labelled by some as the largest team roping in the southern hemisphere.
