DIPPING your flock has never been easier with the return of Jason McDermott to the industry.
Having dipped with his father Barry in the Wagga Wagga district for many years, Jason turned his hand to excavation.
Barry sold the dipping business in 2013 and Jason has now sold his diggers, returning to dipping as owner-operator of McDermott’s Sheep Dipping
Jason uses a mobile hydraulic plunge dip, which is based on a design he came up with.
“We can dip 500 or 600 an hour,” he said. “It’s an easy set up.
“There’s no stress on the sheep and I can do it with the one dog. That’s the beauty of it.”
This advertising feature is supported by the following businesses:
- Pindari Bond Stud
- Gooramma Poll Dorset Stud
- McDermott’s Sheep Dipping
There is no labour required from the farmer, other than the yarding of the sheep to be dipped.
Jason said backline treatment covers about 80 per cent of the market, but some farmers dip their sheep religiously.
He will operate out of Gundagai and will travel to “wherever the sheep are”.
