Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) and New South Wales Department of Primary Industries’ (DPI) will host a Grower Breakfast Forum during Henty Machinery Field Days.

The forum on Wednesday, September 19, includes a hot breakfast followed by a seasonal update session covering topical issues, such as winter crop choices in a dry year.

NSW DPI researchers will also share with growers several useful tools to support decision making, including salvaging crops for grain, fodder or grazing calculator and the biomass calculator. 

GRDC grower relations manager north, Susan McDonnell, said the grower breakfast forum was about bringing some of the industry’s most respected researchers to the field days to share research outcomes and experienced insights with southern NSW growers and advisers.

“The GRDC and NSW DPI are keenly aware of the challenges facing growers as they deal with the prolonged dry conditions, so this forum is about bringing some of the region’s most respected researchers together to provide information and answer questions,” Mrs McDonnell said.

“We will also have experienced NSW DPI researchers with us at the GRDC site for the duration of the field days. So any growers or advisers with questions about agronomy, diseases or weeds can call into the GRDC site at Henty and speak with experts.”

Mrs McDonnell said GRDC Northern Panel members would also be at the breakfast, as well as the GRDC site during the field days, to engage with growers, advisers and industry stakeholders.
