Aberdeen Poll Dorset Stud at Henty will be offering 180 rams for sale on Tuesday, October 2.
The 54th annual ram sale offers inspection for the serious lamb producer and stud principals Simon and Melissa Male are excited with their 2018 line up of 14 stud rams and 166 flock rams.
“We rate this year’s penning of rams as equal or better than previous years despite experiencing a tougher than normal season,” Simon said.
Simon and Melissa continue to utilise Lambplan genetic evaluation to improve their ASBV averages across their flock. Aberdeen’s entire 2017 drop lambs carcass plus average is 210.3 while the terminal breed 2017 drop carcass plus average is 188.0, under the August 15 analysis.

Aberdeen’s entire flock is also above the terminal breed averages in growth and muscle. This has taken a number of years to achieve with the assistance of TGRM programs and artificial insemination of over 600 ewes annually.
The progeny on offer at this year’s sale consists of top genetics, including that of Aberdeen’s super sire, 5-15, which continues to be a trait leader in the country.
“We are also excited to have on offer progeny from Valma Sire 97-15 that we purchased for $26,000 in 2016,” Simon said.
“This particular sire was sourced for his length, huge back end and eating quality figures, which compliment the high quality traits that Aberdeen is already renowned for.”
