In a year when the Armstrong family is celebrating 80 years of breeding Dorsets, they could not be more proud to witness the huge success their clients are achieving in the market share.
With the lamb market reaching new levels it is an exciting time to be a lamb producer and they should feel confident in seeking the best genetics available to maximize returns.
The Armstrongs strongly believe the Poll Dorset breed has the most consistent body shape and fastest growth rates to give prime lamb producers the edge, which means rams need to deliver.
“The first goal of any successful prime lamb enterprise is to get live lambs on the ground and then have them grow as fast as possible,” stud manager Garry Armstrong said.

“The Armdale rams have the correct neck and shoulder shape to allow for lambing ease. Our clients use them because they perform, delivering the type of lamb they need to lift their enterprise. Producers are seeking rams that produce even lines of lambs, with fast growth that allows for a quicker return on investment.”
All Armdale rams are backed up with performance figures that will be displayed on sale day. This year’s are the best the stud has achieved since it commenced recording, with grass-fed rams recording up to a 50mm EMA depth.
The Armstrong’s 44th annual on-property ram sale will be held at “Armdale”, Marrar on Friday, September 28 commencing at 1pm.
