With a yarding of 2600, the MLS National Livestock Reporting Service described the sale as “a reasonable sized offering for the first sale after the Christmas holiday break”.
Wagga selling agents are anticipating at least twice that number next week.
While some producers were at the sale to watch their own stock sold, others were there to check on the state of the market.
Alan Keenan, who travelled from Tumut, said the drought was not far from the minds of cattle producers.
Mr Keenan said farmers would be hoping for good rain by March.
“But I’m seeing some very good cattle here today,” he said.
