With the mercury expected to reach a scorching 45 degrees, sale organisers have made the decision to delay the sale until Sunday, January 20.
“While we understand that many interested breeders have made arrangements, we feel that the welfare of the sheep and staff must come first,” Rob Martin of Kentish Downs said.
“We look forward seeing everyone on Sunday in a much cooler 29 degrees."
The sale will begin on Sunday at 11am.
The region is sweltering through a week of high temperatures and extreme fire danger.
After hitting 42 degrees on Monday, the predicted top for Tuesday is 44, with the even higher 45 degrees expected on Wednesday and Thursday.
Saturday should bring relief with a much-cooler expected maximum of just 31 degrees.
