Extra heavy lambs were well supplied with greater supplies weighing above 30kg carcase weight.
Supplementary finished shorn lambs, benefited from steady bidding from processors. The bulk of the shorn trade lambs were unchanged to slightly easier in places to average from 650c to 686c/kg cwt. New season trade lambs made from $123 to $166/head. Store lambs were in reasonable numbers, making from $73 to $127/head. Shorn lambs suitable to feed on sold from $113 to $152/head. Competition for extra heavy lambs strengthened as the sale progressed, with processors increasing demand for lambs weighing above 30kg carcase weight, while the heavy portion sold to steady competition. Generally, heavy lambs sold $1/head dearer, averaging 651c/kg cwt. Extra heavy lambs were of outstanding quality, with all pen lots supplementary fed. The bulk sold from $171 to $249/head to average 644c/kg cwt. It was a mixed quality yarding of mutton, with all weights and grades represented.
Market demand again fluctuated, with some buyers very selective. Heavy crossbred ewes sold from $114 to $146/head to average 434c/kg cwt. Heavy Merino ewes were once again keenly sought by northern processors, making from $114 to $145/head.
Trade sheep were well supplied and competition was slightly stronger to average from 390c to 417c/kg cwt. Plain sheep were in greater supply making from $65 to $84/head.
