CGS has always been a proud boarding school, acknowledging the responsibility and commitment it takes to nurture students who are entrusted to the school's care.
CGS boarding offers girls and boys in year 7 to 12 a home away from home and allows students to develop their independence, to develop a life-long set of friends as part of a unique community, while surrounded by residential and development care, dedicated pastoral care staff, student services, international student support, on-site catering, international exchange opportunities, and access to a range of sports and co-curricular activities.
"Boarding at CGS is a great opportunity for new experiences and long-term friendships," said Olivia, a year 9 boarder at CGS.
"It is like having another family; your tutors become your parents, and the other boarders become your siblings. Everyone is supportive and caring.'
Living in the boarding house encourages responsibility and independence, yet staying in touch with family is important to the school.
"The cultural diversity of boarding provides us with the opportunity to interact with people of varying backgrounds, and allows us to begin to understand the depth and diversity surrounding the world," said Guy, a year 11 boarder.
CGS offer's traditional term boarding for regional and international students, as well as flexible boarding where students stay on campus from Monday through Thursday nights, then join their families for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.
Casual boarding as needed is also available for current students depending on availability.
With the number one Quality of Life and Traffic Commute Time in Australia, boarding at Canberra Grammar School combines the best of city and country.
The school encourages prospective families to visit during an Open Day or by arranging an appointment to view the school. Prospective families can also take a virtual tour at cgs.youtour.com.au.
