According to the National Livestock Reporting Service cattle numbers eased and the quality was plainer.
Weaners were better supplied and there were reasonable numbers of light and medium weight feeder steers and heifers, but there was a much smaller and plainer run of heavy weights. Prime grown steers and heifers were in short supply and nearly half the yarding were cows. On quality, the market sold to a dearer trend.
Weaners to restock lifted 11c/kg on the heifers, while the steers remained firm. Steers sold to 311c and heifers made to 263c/kg.
Medium weight feeder steers were firm, making from 260c to 310c and heavy weights reached 296c/kg. Feeder heifers were firm, receiving from 251c to 286c and heavy trade cattle sold from 285c to 300c/kg.
The few prime grown steers received from 278c to 310c and the heavy grown heifers made from 268c to 296c/kg.
Medium weight cows were 4c stronger, making from 132c to 194c, while the heavy cows sold from 188c to 250c, with the 4 score cows lifting 12c to average 240c/kg lwt.
