In 2012 the family joined Sheep Genetics Australia and in 2017 the Wilga Merinos stud was registered.
The emphasis on high fertility has always been a strong focus, achieving lambing rates of 120 to 150 per cent. Even in this tough year, 130 per cent lambs were weaned from autumn lambing and mobs scanning to 172 per cent for winter lambing.
Wilga Merinos' first annual open day and ram sale will be held on September 5. The stud will have ewes, sires and progeny on display for viewing, and will be offering 60 quality rams, including 47 polls.
Rams were sold privately in 2017 and 2018, with 100 per cent clearance last year. For more information and a sale catalogue visit www.wilgamerinos.com.au.
