There will be much more than personal pride on the line as Rabbitohs coach Wayne Bennett and Brisbane counterpart Anthony Seibold face off against their former clubs, with both sides at critical junctures in their campaign.

The Rabbitohs have flatlined, winning just three of their past 10 games to fall outside the top four for the first time since round one.

They could move back into the top four with a win - given third-placed Canberra face fourth-placed Manly on Sunday - but more importantly they require momentum to have a shot at going deep into the finals.

Hooker Damien Cook said he and halves Adam Reynolds and Cody Walker sought a meeting to address their woes after feeling a disconnect in Saturday's upset loss to Canterbury.

And the whole side was on the end of a rev-up from Bennett during Monday's video session.

Cook said while he believed the Rabbitohs' spine got along better than any other in the competition, they had fallen out of sync.

"As a spine, a big one for us is playing as one and being on the same page," he said.

"We may have been a little bit disconnected on the weekend. We had a good chat, a good meeting the three of us.

"Today's session was probably the best we've had in a long time."

Bennett attempted to light a fire under his side after their 14-6 loss to the Bulldogs - in which they failed to score a try - saying their situation was approaching critical.

And he hit the playing group with some hard truths during their video review session.

"Wayne doesn't blow up like coaches I've had in the past," Cook said.

"He makes you feel very disappointed that you've let him down because he's one person that you don't want to let down."

Walker said Bennett had questioned the side's desire, a point which had made them sit up and take notice.

"He questioned our attitude and whether we really want it," Walker said.

"You come out of it and it's hard to hear but it's something you need to hear.

"I guess it just flicks a switch in you."
