Aidan has made headlines after breaking the world record for shearing first-cross ewes and it's a personal victory which he can be proud of.
However, it is a good thing for the Riverina and the shearing industry in general too.
Aidan has proven that shearing is both a sport and a profession. And he has set a stellar example for young people in the industry or those who might be thinking of taking up the skill.
Former world record holder Dwayne Black was at Gnadbro, near Collingullie when Aidan broke the record on Saturday.
And Dwayne's message was a positive one. He said the world record attempt could be likened to the "Olympics of shearing."
He also encouraged people to look after themselves and their fitness in a bid to get the most out of the profession.
BRINGING AGRICULTURE TO THE SCHOOL LIBRARY: If your school has received a copy of the Al Mabin books known as The Grower, The Drover and The Driver be sure to take a look though the pages.
You might just spy someone you know, or someone from this area. Robert Dodwell can be found in The Drover and if you are in the transport industry or travel regularly you are sure to recognise some of the rigs in The Driver.
CONTINUING THE SCHOOL FOCUS: Visitors to the 111th Ganmain Show this Saturday are certainly in for a treat. There is a program brimming with entertainment. However, kudos must go to the three schools, The Riverina Anglican College, Wagga Christian College and Yanco Agricultural High School for the work they have done in bringing auctioneering skills to the classroom.
Students from these three schools will participate in what will ultimately be the finals of the inter-schools auctioneers competition.
The high-school aged students have worked with some of the best auctioneers to learn the craft and age is no barrier in this competition. There will be competitors as young as Year 7 who will give selling their best shot.
THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU TRESPASS: The Right to Farm Bill is set to send a strong message to anti-farming lobbyists who invade private property and cause untold stress to landholders and livestock.
