"It's about talking to, and listening to woolgrowers, understanding what is important to them when they are making their marketing decisions," Michell Wool director David Michell said.
"We understand that price is important and that is why we established an operating model with considerably lower overheads so we could pass the savings on to growers."
"But they have also strongly voiced that it is about more marketing options and flexibility, and we've done what they've asked."
Michell pass on the savings to local growers dealing direct, being the only combination broker, buyer and processor left in Australia.
Michell Wool offer a Melbourne auction catalogue, marketing wool from Queensland, NSW, Victoria and South Australia. "Our clients have access to the broadest range of marketing options and in depth market intelligence on wool demand through our global and agent network."
With the purchase of 1 in 4 bales of oddments in Australia, Michell CEO Steven Read said, "We would rather deal direct with growers as it is mutually beneficial to all; growers achieve better returns and Michell gets continuity of supply for our global client base."
