Top genetics from one of Australia's largest Poll Dorset flocks will be on offer at the Corcoran family's annual on-property ram sale on September 20 in Boorowa.
Extensive genetic selection and implementation of on-farm technology has given Gooramma clients the edge with their prime lamb operations.
"The stud strives to produce high performing, structurally sound and, most importantly, economically enhancing genetics that increase the profitability of our clients' prime lamb enterprise," owner James Corcoran said.
"Clients using Gooramma sires have consistently set the benchmark in the district for growth and yield.
"The feedback we are getting from abattoirs is very positive. They are seeking out Gooramma-sired lambs as they know the product is extremely consistent and aligns with the specifications they require to sell into the domestic and international markets."
Gooramma was the first Australian stud to use cold tolerance gene marker DNA technology and has been using this tool for over seven years to increase lamb survival and ensure their clients maximise lamb output.
"The use of DNA technology is actively used within our breeding program to identify high performing animals and to remain at the forefront of the prime lamb industry," Mr Corcoran said.
"We are excited to be offering the first sons of Gooramma 'Guru' in the 2019 sale. He has sired over 2000 progeny in the last 12 months across six countries and has made remarkable genetic gains in meat yield and growth."
There will be 110 high performance Poll Dorset rams offered at the 2019 Gooramma ram sale, with inspections from 11.30am and the sale commencing at 1.30pm.
