Cow numbers remained high with just over 800 yarded.
Prices were softer for most categories of trade cattle.
Trade steers eased 5c making from 290c 332c, with only limited sales above 315c/kg. Trade heifers again lacked competition which resulted in a cheaper trend of 6c to average 286c/kg. Light weight weaner steers left to restockers sold 11c dearer due to stronger local competition, making from 245c to 286c/kg. Light weight store heifers retuning to the paddock were unchanged making from 190 to 225c/kg. Not all the usual feedlot buyers were operating in a softer market for some categories. There was solid support for feed steers 400-500kg, with the well-bred portion unchanged, while the lighter weights sold 13c cheaper to average 273c/kg. Light weight feed heifers 330-400kg sold to a small field of buyers easing 5c to average 260c/kg. Back ground heifers eased 13c to average 220c/kg. Grown steers and bullocks were in shorter supply and quality was not of the previous week's standard. The younger well finished steers met steady demand from domestic processors making from 288c to 344c/kg. Bullocks were limited and prices declined notably to average 284c/kg. Heavy heifers with shape sold from 288c to 313c/kg It was another large yarding of cows. Prices across the board were 4c to 5c/kg cheaper. Heavy cows sold to a smaller group of processors selling from 238c to 272c/kg. The D2 and D3 types made from 190 to 248c/kg.
