Jonita Ragaisyte, 27, pleaded guilty to two charges of possessing a drug of dependence earlier this week, more than two years after police raided the Docklands apartment she shared with then-boyfriend Cemre Volkan.

Volkan was convicted and jailed last year for drug trafficking and possession after police found an "Aladdin's cave" of drugs in the apartment, including cocaine, GHB, ketamine, LSD, MDMA, steroids and testosterone.

Ragaisyte has since admitted possessing butanediol - which becomes GHB once digested - and nethylhexedrone, a drug with similar properties to methamphetamine.

At a pre-sentence hearing on Thursday, defence lawyer Megan Casey described her client as a "happy young woman" who became addicted to GHB while dating Volkan.

Ms Casey said the young model had no idea Voltan was trafficking drugs.

County Court Judge Christopher Ryan rubbished the claim, citing the "chaotic state" of the apartment, with drugs and paraphernalia scattered across the bedroom, kitchen and living area as well as the balcony and external storage locker.

"You'd have to be Blind Freddie not to understand that the place was awash with a cornucopia of various drugs," he said.

Throughout Thursday's hearing, Ragaisyte appeared uninterested and told the Lithuanian translator to stop assisting her, prompting Judge Ryan to issue a stern reprimand.

"Understand well and truly that your liberty is at risk and it does your cause no good to sit and stare at the ceiling as if this is all too boring because you just might find yourself bored at Dame Phyllis Frost prison for women," he said.

The court heard the model came to Australia on a student visa in 2013 and began dating Volkan in 2016.

Volkan, who goes by the moniker Red Ra in the bodybuilding community, previously dated socialite Brynne Edelstein in 2014.

Since he was remanded in custody, Ragaisyte has found herself homeless, her visa in limbo and struggling with anxiety and depression.

"She's formed a relationship with a man who she should not have. One cannot control young people's hearts," Judge Ryan said.

The judge said he was finding it difficult to sentence the young woman due to her homelessness.

"I don't see how I can sentence her to a community corrections order and set her up to fail," he said.

He also dismissed the prosecution's push for imprisonment, citing Volkan's three-year jail sentence on far more serious charges.

Ms Casey suggested she be fined, noting her parents in Lithuania would be happy to pay.

She said they had been sending their daughter money but she did not want to return there.

"If I could sentence this young woman to a one-way ticket to Lithuania, that's what I'd sentence her to with an undertaking that she'd never come back," Judge Ryan remarked.

The hearing continues on Friday.
