With more than 400 entries for the 2019 Australian Yard Dog Championships to be held in West Wyalong, spokesman Peter Darmody said it is record for the annual event which will be held from 1 November for three days.

"We have dogs coming from every state bar the Northern Territory, and with 60 handlers in the maiden event we are looking forward to some terrific competition," he said.
"There will be the absolute cream of the yard dogs in Australia competing which will create a lot of interest for the spectators."
Mr Darmody said the defending champion Travis Head from South Australia is returning.
"There is increasing popularity for this event which is at the West Wyalong Showground Dog Yards," he said.
"I also advise people to book early if they want a spot in the caravan parks."
There are 1200 Merino wethers, provided by various local graziers for the events which include maiden, novice and open entries.
"With $10,000 available in prize money, it is an enormous occasion," Mr Darmody said.
"We have a lot of support from local businesses."
