With a tradition of educating boarders from across regional NSW, head of college John Weeks recently announced flexible co-educational boarding options to help families stay together while living and learning at school.
"Scots All Saints College places great emphasis on the importance of family. Recent changes in the boarding structure has led to the foundation of an exciting entrance into the 2020 academic year," Mr Weeks said.
All boarding houses on the picturesque and spacious grounds of Scots Campus have recently been refurbished with twin rooms available for younger students and single rooms offered for year 11 and all year 12 boarders. Each house offers individual study spaces, communal recreational areas and kitchens.
Equestrian facilities and agistment are offered on campus for boarders to bring their own horses.
In addition to full-time boarding, weekly and casual boarding is available as an option for 2020. This gives students and families the opportunity to board during the week, return home on a Friday afternoon after classes, returning to school Sunday afternoon.
Scots All Saints College boarding students Holly Stokes (Nyngan), Harriett Mitchell (Bourke), Will Thomas (Narromine) and Felicity Webb (Tarana) were recenmtly selected to participate in the UNICEF NSW Youth Drought Summit in Lake Macquarie to be a youth 'voice' on drought, which continues to affect a high proportion of NSW.
"With many areas of the Central West and regional NSW, including our own on-campus farm still experiencing the affects of drought, financial assistance and fee relief is an option for boarding students who come from Southern and Western NSW where droughts are entering their fifth and sixth year," Mr Weeks said.
"Our agricultural faculty has been looking into ways of maximising water usage and adopting sustainable practices to secure feed for stock on our own College working farm which is a valuable educational resource for our students."
Scots All Saints College hosts 40 acres of farmland on the Scots Campus. The farm has had a successful lambing season with most ewes having twins or triplets, making drought planning even more critical to ensure there is enough feed and water to support the growing stock numbers.
Through the efforts of the Scots All Saints College Parents and Friends Association, drought awareness and fundraising projects including packing boxes for "The Ladies of the Land" and encouraging the college community to "Buy from the Bush" for Christmas are underway.
Junior and middle school students from kindergarten to year 8, teachers and staff showed their support by raising over $700 in the #PinkUpYourTown McGrath Foundation fundraiser for breast care nurses in the region.
Scots All Saints College offers annual scholarships across five categories - academic, agriculture, music, pipes and drums, and all-rounder for students from year 5 to 11. Interested students should apply now for 2021.
The school also offers multi-student discounts for three or more siblings and cousins, providing tuition and boarding relief.
