According to Meat and Livestock Australia's National Livestock Reporting Service numbers lifted and the quality was mixed with an increase of cows and light and plain yearlings.

There was added competition from restockers for young cattle.

Yearlings were well supplied and there was a good variety which suited trade and feeder orders. Grown steers were limited but there was a very good line of heavy bullocks.

Cow numbers jumped to around 650 head. Restockers paid similar prices for stock that was a little plainer than previous weeks. Steers sold from 240c to 313c and heifers made from 195c to 240c/kg.

Feeder steer eased 14c on the medium weights and 5c on the heavy weights, selling from 260c to 293c/kg. Feeder heifers were firm, making from 252c to 280c/kg on the better shapes. Trade steers eased 10c, selling from 274c to 293c and heifers were firm making from 278c to 283c/kg on the heavy heifers.

Prime grown steers sold to a stronger trend from 295c to 310c and the heavy bullocks reached 305c/kg. Medium weight cows held firm, selling from 190c to 232c but heavy cows eased 10c to 15c making from 210c to 262c, before averaging 245c/kg.
