Mutton numbers were steady and price softened over most classes. Price results for trade lambs weakened, a part of the weaker result was less processor competition on dryer types. The best of the heavy trade lambs 22kg to 24kg sold $5 cheaper to average 727c/kg cwt.
Light weight lambs to the processors held there values, due in part to the steady demand from restockers. New season light weight lambs back to the paddock sold to fluctuating trends making from $103 to $143/head. Young lambs with weight and frame were keenly sought by a local agents and feedlots making from $130 to $168/head.
Heavy lambs lost the drive from processors selling from $184 to $210/head. Prices for extra heavy lambs in wool bounced around depending on who was bidding.
Generally extra heavy lamb prices dropped $8 selling at $198 to $237/head.
Shorn extra heavy lambs sold $11/head cheaper to average 750c to 777c/kg cwt. It was a mixed quality yarding of mutton, with a good supply of trade sheep through the offering. Competition from buyers weakened across heavy categories. Heavy crossbred ewes sold up to $222 to average 562c/kg cwt. Heavy Merino ewes made from $146 to $220/head averaging 570c to 582c/kg cwt. Heavy wethers sold at $141 to $222/head, averaging 581c/kg cwt. Trade and light sheep ranged from $94 to $147/head, with trade mutton firm averaging 590c/kg cwt
