Blue Hills (78ha) has 24ha of established orchards with about 17,600 trees. A further 44ha is suitable for future plantings and the balance used for grazing. Orana has a land area of 81ha, with 20ha orchards comprising about 14,200 trees and the balance grazing country.
There are extensive plantings of new varieties.
As well as orchards, the vendors have run a White Suffolk stud operation.
The orchards have a home on each property, both set in established gardens with a 5kW solar system.
Infrastructure includes a packing and storage shed (200x96) with four cool rooms on site, Colour Vision apple grader with eight drop points, four-lane automatic tray fillers and four fully automatic bin fillers. A 15kW solar system on the packing shed provides for an energy-efficient operation.
There are machinery and storage sheds on each property, and livestock handling facilities at Orana.
The sale will include orchard packaging plant and equipment, tractors, forklifts, hydra ladders, picking machines, sprayers, mowers, trucks and about 3250 wooden bins.
