The 46-year-old former German international was accused of pushing his girlfriend Bridget Gray at a Randwick home in June.
His case was listed for mention in Waverley Local Court on Thursday, but a court official confirmed on Friday that the assault charge and application for an apprehended violence order were withdrawn.
Magistrate Michael Crompton formally dismissed the matter.
Hamann - who also played for Manchester City and Newcastle - helped Liverpool win the Champions League in 2005.
He now works as a soccer pundit for Irish television network RTE.
