Take a walk down memory lane and see photos from the stock and station agents ball in Wagga

The Rural's annual stock and station agents ball was one of the most popular events on the social calendar in the Riverina for a number of years.

By pulling together the resources of Wagga Associated Livestock Agents and The Rural newspaper the event earned kudos among many in the agricultural industry and also raised valuable funds for charity.

To mark the popularity of this event we have gone through the archives and secured some of the old photos gathered by our photographers.

Former manager of The Rural, Peter Durham said the ball was certainly a highlight of each year.

He said it was an ideal chance for clients, livestock agents, employees of the Wagga Livestock Marketing Centre, and agricultural producers to come together.

Mr Durham acknowledged the enormous amount of work that went into organising the ball.

He said RH Blake and Co livestock agent Mark Logan was a driving force in the success of the ball.

"We always had items for charity and it was always a great night," he said.

"It was the one time of the year when we all came together."

H Francis and Co livestock agent, Tim Francis, has fond memories of The Rural's stock and station agent balls too.

He said they attracted around 300 people each year and guests travelled from all over.

"It was a mix of cattle and sheep buyers, livestock agents and our clients ... it was a really big thing," Mr Francis said.

"Every time we would have an auction and raise money for charity."
