With everything going on in the world at the moment life at Crawford Angus in the hills of Tumorrama is certainly life as normal for Luke Graham and his brothers Mark and Adam as they prepare for their fourth on-property spring bull sale on the September 11.
The Crawford stud was established by the brother's father Bruce in 1989. Bruce loved the Angus breed and spared no expense in developing the Crawford herd with leading Australian and overseas genetics. Bulls were sold privately for many years before the first sale in 2017.
"With the success of that sale we were committed to keep going," Luke said.
"We have definitely been blessed in the past 12 months we were lucky enough to still have a spring in 2019 and then one of the best Autumns on record and we are continuing to see a pretty mild winter so far, with that in mind our 2020 line up of bulls have not needed any supplementary feeding.
"This year we are proud to offer 40 outstanding bulls, there will be four sons of Texas Kelvin Kline K542 who's sons averaged $13,500 at last year's sale to a top of $18,000. K542 is a high-growth bull with impeccable structure and great temperament, he is phenotypically desirable and looking at his offspring he breeds true to type. Also, on offer are seven sons of Bushes East Decision an outcross sire with high growth in the top 1 per cent for 200 and 400 day and top 2 per cent for 600 day, this bull is in the 10 per cent for all indexes."
An open day will be held on Monday August 24 from 11am to 4pm for bull inspections. On sale day, buyers can utilise online bidding through the Auctions plus interface.
