According to Meat and Livestock Australia's National Livestock Reporting Service there was 14,850 new-season lambs penned and quality was good with most lambs well presented and finished.
Trade and heavy weight lambs made up the majority of the offering. The usual buyers were present and competing in a dearer market.
Trade weight new season lambs lifted from $2 to $5 with prices made from $145 to $160/head.
Heavy lambs from 23 to 26kg cwt attracted strong competition and sold from $6 to $8 dearer to make from $160 to $184/head.
Extra heavy weight export lambs were from $5 to $7 stronger and made from $170 to $220/head.
Carcase prices averaged from 650c to 725c/kg cwt. Old lambs lifted by $4 as the heavy weights made to $168 and the extra heavy weight lambs sold from $165 to $225/head.
Mutton quality was fair with Merinos making up the majority of the offering, which sold from $132 to $174 and crossbreeds made from $132 to $193/head.
