According to Meat and Livestock Australia's National Livestock Reporting Service numbers almost halved with approximately 5000 new-season lambs penned.
The quality was plainer this week with additional shorn lots on offer. All weights and grades were available with restockers and feedlots active on lighter lines.
Not all the regular buying group were present, despite this prices were firm to a little softer. Trade weight lambs were well supplied with prices holding across all weights.
Light and medium weights were selling from $153 to $174 and heavy trade made from $174 to $187/head to average 749c/kg cwt.
There was a good supply of heavy lambs suiting domestic and export processors, however prices eased $8/head across lambs beginning to show dryness.
Heavy lambs were selling from $182 to $192/head. It was a similar offering of export lambs with most showing signs of dryness as the 26 to 30kg weights slipped $6, selling from $198 to $214/head.
Limited pens of over 30kg lambs gained $5 and sold to $250/head to average 705c/kg cwt. Restockers and feedlot buyers dominated the light lambs with restockers buying from $70 and $140/head for lambs under 18kg.
Lambs weighing between 16 and 22kg going to feed were selling from $138 to $172/head.
New season shorn Merino lambs were well supplied selling to $183/head. It was a very good yarding of mutton and all regular buyers were active.
Heavy cross bred ewes were selling to $220 to average 636c/kg cwt and Merino ewes reached $224/head.
