The sale achieved a record for an on-property auction that was just shy of $4 million.

And it came in a year where stellar sale results are the norm.

In fact, in the media cover record sales almost daily. We have seen bulls surpass the $100,000 mark several times and many studs have achieved record average prices.

The seedstock industry is certainly benefiting from what happens at a commercial level.

Kudos to Mr and Mrs Bull who have developed a product, backed by data, that meets the market and takes the industry to the next level to meet market specifications.

Hats off to the livestock agents and industry leaders who are on the front foot in backing the move to not just market a pretty product but prove the worth on paper and later, and more importantly in the abattoir.

If we are to look at a sale like Lambpro at an industry level it shows that livestock, in general, is in great shape.

The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a toll, we are constantly talking about the shaky ground in terms of our relationship with marketing products to China. Yet at home, the great results continue to flow.

Let's talk up our agricultural industry, based on these on-farm performances. When all is said and done this is where success begins.

CONGRATULATIONS to Wagga cattle enthusiast John Rodd who has tirelessly prepared charity steers to raise funds in supporting the Willans Hill School.

Over the years Mr Rodd, backed by the support of Wagga RSL, has been involved in getting some of these magnificent animals ready for sale.

On Monday a Poll Hereford steer, weighing around 580 kilograms made 432c/kg at the Wagga Livestock Marketing Centre.

This steer certainly showed plenty of weight for age and could be considered one of the best that has been prepared in the joint venture which prepares animals for charity.

Before the Coles Myer bid came in for the steer he had also earned a charitable pledge of $12,000 from Aristocrat Gaming.
