Secondary cattle were well supplied with most weighing more than 400kg. All the regular export and domestic buyers were in attendance.
There were several restocking orders in place but buyers struggled to find lighter weight stock.
In the trade market domestic buyers had to up the ante to secure trade weight steers due to the robust demand from feedlots.
Steers suitable for the trade gained 10c to average 428c/kg.
A single pen of European steers recorded a top price of 442c/kg.
Trade heifers sold to strong competition benefited by strong demand from domestic processors and feedlots.
Medium-weight trade heifers sold from 372c to 436c/kg.
Prices for feeder steers was strong for all weight categories.
Steers 400 to 500kg jumped 11c making from 390c to 442c to average 435c/kg. Medium weight feeder heifers gained 17c averaging 414c/kg.
Not all processors operated in the export run.
Heavy steers and bullocks sold to strong competition from domestic buyers and some export processors. Prices for C3 steers and bullocks made from 360c to 412c/kg.
Heavy heifers were in greater supply and several buyers keenly contested the younger portion.
The bulk selling from 333c to 392c/kg. In the cow market not all processors operated. Heavy well finished cows sold from 299c to 322c/kg.
