In the trade market, domestic buyers struggled to up the ante to secure trade weighted steers due to the robust demand from feedlots.
Steers suitable for the trade slipped 3c to average 454c/kg.
A single pen of European steers recorded a top price of 438c/kg. Trade heifers benefited by strong demand from feedlots with domestic buyers unwilling to chase the market.
Medium weight trade heifers sold from 375c to 422c/kg.
The limited supply of vealers made from 428c to 463c/kg.
Light weight steers returning to the paddock sold from 428c to 511c/kg. Prices for all light weight steers categories was stronger.
Steers 330 to 400kg made from 430c to 472c to average 451c/kg.
Medium weight feeder heifers eased 7c to average 403c/kg.
Not all processors operated in the export run. Heavy steers and bullock sold to strong weaker from domestic and export processors. Prices for C3 steers fell 18c to sell from 330c to 395c/kg.
Bullocks eased 11c to average 359c/kg.
Heavy heifers were well supplied.
Buyers keenly contested the younger portion, while older heifers were discounted.
The bulk sold from 320c to 378c/kg. In the cow market not, all processors operated.
Heavy well finished cows eased 8c to sell from 300c to 318c/kg. Leaner types made from 280c to 295c/kg.
