The quality of the offering was only fair, with most yearling cattle requiring more finish.
It was most of the usual export and domestic buyers in attendance however not all operated.
Northern restocking competition was very strong due in part to a lift in quality.
Vealers sold to stronger trends which resulted in a price lift 11c, the bulk selling from 420c to 494c/kg.
Grass finished and grain assisted yearling steers sold to dearer trends averaging 438c/kg.
The heifer portion was mixed, and buyers were keen to secure the European cross portion.
The bulk of the trade heifers made from 370c to 462c/kg.
Feeder steers were in greater numbers and prices jumped significantly to average 431c/kg.
Despite less feeder heifer orders, competition was solid particularly for the lighter weights.
Lighter weight feed heifers gained 6c to average 458c/kg.
Heavy steers and bullocks were in reasonable numbers.
Quality was fair to very good with buyers once again paying a premium for the younger stock.
Heavy C3 steers and C4 bullocks ranged in price from 360c to 420c/kg.
It was a much smaller offering of 400 cows with the bulk heavy well finished types.
There were only a few processors operating, in spite of this prices were unchanged. Heavy cows made from 290c to 319c/kg.
