Pregnancy-tested-in-calf cows with their first calves sold to a top of $4800 and weaner heifers made up to $1910 at the Reiland Genetics Female Feature sale at the Gundagai saleyards on Friday.

AuctionsPlus confirmed the huge price-tag of $4800 was an AuctionsPlus Australian record for Angus cows with calves.
It was also the second-highest price AuctionsPlus has seen for cows and calves overall, the price beat only by a pen of Speckle Park cows and calves sold last October for $5580.
The sale saw a yarding of 665 females, all with Reiland genetics, and bred by vendors from across the Riverina, South West Slopes and Victoria.
Elders agent Nick Gilvarry said the sale result was tremendous.
"A lot of these females would have been sold into the live export market, headed to China, but because the season turned around a lot of them were put into calf and vendors decided to sell back into Australia," Mr Gilvarry said.
"It was really the first offering of Angus cattle from one set of saleyards, from one stud and I think it's set a bit of a standard."
PTIC cows with calves sold from $3200 to the top price of $4800.
It was 10 two-year-old PTIC cows with four-month-old calves from Reiland Angus itself that topped the sale. The pen was bought by Peter and Narelle Clout, Greenvale, Coolac.
Mr Clout said they were looking to restock after selling around 75 cows with calves during the drought.
"At the moment we're only running about 70 head and we want to get back to about 100 if we can, but we realise we have to pay the money," Mr Clout said.
"I picked out these cows when they were first advertised a couple of months ago."
Other top sales included a run of unjoined cows with calves from Coolong Pastoral P/L, Hay, which topped at $3500 twice, for a pen of four-year-old cows and calves and a pen of six-year-old cows with calves. Meanwhile, their 10-year-old cows with calves sold to $3200.
PTIC heifers sold from $2200 to a top price of $3600, paid for another pen from Reiland Angus. The 13 Angus heifers were 2.5 years old. Reiland Angus sold another pen of 13 rising-two-year-old PTIC heifers for $3300.
The next highest price for PTIC heifers was $3150 paid for 24 heifers from AW and FM Nicholls, Dundee, Gundagai.
Anthony Nicholls said they had 112 females in the sale in total and had specifically decided to target the PTIC market last year.
"We saw the potential strength of that market so we decided to join all our heifers 12 months ago," Mr Nicholls said.
Weaner heifers sold from $1500 to $1910.
It was Houston Pastoral Company, Burrowye Station, Burrowye, Vic, who sold the top-priced pen of weaner heifers for their 20 11- to 12-month-old heifers, weighing 383kg.
The sale was conducted by Elders Tumut and Nutrien Wagga Wagga.
