According to MLA's Leann Dax numbers declined and so did quality.
Trade heifers sold to weaker demand causing some big price variations. The bulk of the heifers to the trade sold 11c cheaper making from 385c to 488c/kg.
Trade steers were unchanged to average 479c/kg.
Heifers retuning to the paddock sold to a top price of 565c or the equivalent of $1362/head.
Secondary weaner steer quality slipped, with some restockers selective when purchasing.
The bulk of the steers under 330kg sold from 470c to 590c/kg.
The pick of the lightweight steers averaged 534c/kg. There was stronger competition for feeder steers 400-500kg with prices 6c higher to average 473c/kg.
Feeder heifers sold to a smaller group of buyers and well-bred stock were in short supply. Heifers 330-400kg recorded a top price of 484c averaging 470c/kg.
Not all processors operated in the export run. Bullock prices lifted 3c to average 403c/kg. Heavy C3 steers sold 3c dearer making from 360c to 418c/kg.
Heavy heifers were in reasonable numbers and quality was very good. C4 heifers sold from 371c to 410c/kg. In the cow market not, all processors attended or operated to capacity.
Despite the smaller group of buyer's prices grew stronger as the sale progressed.
Heavy well finished cows gained 5c to 6c/kg, making from 308c to 339c/kg.
Leaner types were limited selling at 270c to 318c/kg.
