According to Meat and Livestock Australia market reporter, Leann Dax, bullocks were in short supply and quality slipped to the previous market.
In the trade market steers suitable for the trade were unchanged to 3c easier to average 467c with a single European steer recording a top price of 500c/kg.
Trade heifers sold to significantly stronger competition benefited by robust demand from feedlot buyers.
The stronger competition meant prices lifted 18c making from 410c to 460c/kg.
Prices for feeder steers 400 to 500kg broke through the 500c barrier to record a top price 513c/kg.
Feeder heifers 330 to 400kg gained 11c in strong bidding to average 460c/kg.
Not all processors operated in the export run.
Heavy steers and bullock sold to weaker competition from southern processors.
Prices for C3 steers and bullocks ranged from 348c to 433c/kg. Heavy steers to feed on sold at 418c to 450c/kg.
Heavy heifers were well supplied.
A major domestic processor mainly contested the younger portion, while other processors purchased older types.
The bulk selling from 338c to 432c/kg.
In the cow market not, all processors operated.
Heavy well finished cows sold from 285c to 308c/kg.
The bulk of the leaner sold from 255c to 290c/kg.
