Beginning with showcasing the Australian Merino Production Trial, listening to Emma McCrabb's update on the latest MERINOSELECT genetic developments, the second day featured a wide range of speakers each addressing industry insights pertinent to the Merino industry and finishing with visits to wool brokers, stockyard manufactures and research points based in Wagga Wagga.

Among the keynote speakers, Professor Bruce Allworth, CSU, Wagga Wagga, spoke on Animal Welfare issues, Matt Crozier, Cavan Station, Yass, highlighted how the use of DNA has lifted production in his Merino flock and Phil Graham, Yass, questioned the need for expensive improved pastures when native species sensitively grazed are just as profitable.

Professor Mark Howden, director of the ANU Institute for Climate, Energy and Disaster Solutions, Canberra, has worked in the area of climate variability and climate change for over 30 years and spoke on the risks and opportunities for agriculture due to climate change and Michael Whitehead, head of Agribusiness Insights for ANZ presented an insight into financial trends influencing the Merino industry and the agribusiness sector.
