MLA market reporter, Caroline Ronald said a small plainer offering of light and medium weight lambs weighing 18 to 22kg sold from $162 to $182, easing $2 to $3/head.
A better supply of heavy weight lambs were unchanged selling from $183 to $210/head, averaging 835c/kg cwt. Processors dominated the light lamb category with lambs selling to mixed trends from $118 to $156/head. Merino lambs continue to be well supplied with additional weight offered. Heavy weight Merino lambs made from $184 to $198, while extra heavy lambs were firm to $13 dearer, selling from $214 to $239/head. Freshly shorn heavy lambs boosted the market with lambs selling to domestic and export processors making from $201 to $218/head. Quantity and quality remain limited across the extra heavy lines. Lambs were $4 to $6 stronger, with lambs over 26kg selling from $212 to $238 and the over 30kg lambs selling to a top of $263/head. Mutton quality was mixed with heavy weights gaining on last sale. Heavy cross bred ewes were well supplied selling from $181 to $240, and heavy Merino ewes reached a top of $215/head.
