A man has been charged over the alleged theft of two livestock trailers in the Monaro.
Officers attached to Monaro Rural Crime Prevention Team located the trailers attached to a prime mover stopped on the Monaro Highway, Michelago, about 9.30am.
Police forced entry to a cabin and the driver, a 29-year-old man, fled. He was pursued on foot through several paddocks before running into a nearby dam.
The man was arrested a short time later and taken to Queanbeyan Hospital for treatment. He was later released and taken to Cooma Police Station, where he was charged with steal motor vehicle and driver never licensed.
The ACT man appeared at Queanbeyan Local Court where he was formally refused bail.
