The Routley family's Almondvale Poll And White Suffolk sheep studs at Urana conducted its 34th Poll and 18th White Suffolk sale on Friday in style.

With a large crowd was in attendance, keen bidding pushed a Poll ram to top the sale at $6500 while the White Suffolk high-seller reached a top of $4500.
Bidding was strong throughout the sale which resulted in the Routley family having their highest sale average and Poll price to date.
Many return clients as well as new buyers were in attendance, and commented on the stylish wool and the overall confirmation of both the Poll and White Suffolk line ups.
A total of 185 rams were offered for an overall sale average was $2098.
In the breakdown, 63 of the 65 Poll rams offered were sold for an average of $2963 while an increased offering of 30 more White Suffolk rams resulted in a complete clearance for the 120 catalogued at a $1643 average.
In the poll section the $6500 sale-topper went to return buyers and strong supporters Graham, Angela and Tim Sweeny, Bimbi.
Their top-choice measured 19.4 microns with a body weight of 98 kilograms, and was described as "a well balanced poll ram with 97 per cent wool cut".
The Sweeny family have been long-time supporters of the Routley family's stud, purchasing rams for over 34 years.
Mr Sweeny said their pick today was a stand out in the poll draft for his confirmation and outstanding wool.
"We purchased a total of seven poll rams today keeping our selection of rams in the 19 micron range along with great confirmation, thickness and length in the wool as we shear every six month along with purchasing four White Suffolks rams," he said.
The White Suffolk $4500 high-priced ram went to return buyer Richard Davies, Lone Pine White Suffolks, Goulburn. Heading to stud duties, Mr Davies said the ram was a perfectly formed ram with great length.
"The ram had exceptional length, thickness and shape and was the standout throughout the line of White Suffolk rams", he said.
Mr Davies' pick weighed 112kg and had a fat score of eight millimetres and an eye muscle area of 35.74 square centimetres.
Return buyers Australian Food and Agriculture, Deniliquin put together a draft of 26 rams to average $1246.
Other significant buyers included Wyrilla Pastoral Company, Maxwell who purchased 11 White Suffolk rams paying a top of $2000 to average $1618.
While staying local, EC and TL Fealy, Urana put together a draft of 10 White Suffolk rams to average $1640.
Also purchasing 10 rams, Peelwood RP Pty LTD, Laggan averaged $1560.
Speaking after the sale stud principal, Paul Routley, said he was extremely happy with the attendance at the sale with 42 registered buyers and seven new clients purchasing rams along with six White Suffolk rams heading back to stud duties.
"It shows that our rams are doing the job," he said. "We are blown away with the clearance, top and the new stud record sale averages".
The sale was conducted by Nutrien with Peter Cabot and Tim Woodham as the auctioneers.
