Meat and Livestock Australia, market reporter, Caroline Ronald said light and medium weights gained up to $7 selling from $194 to $226/head. Strong competition across heavy trade lambs drove prices up with gains of $12 lambs making from $233 to $265/head to average 1013c/kg cwt.
Some good quality was available in the heavy lamb category, making from $250 to $274, gaining $7/head. A pen of extra heavy export lambs sold for $279/head.
The market was $13 dearer across heavy export types selling from $273 to $294/head. Merino lambs were in good supply again this week with heavy trade weights gaining $3 selling from $197 to $224/head.
Heavy mutton gained $10 with heavy Crossbred ewes selling from $161 to $215 and Merinos ewes from $160 to $215/head.
Merino wethers made $175 to $200/head.
