While there were some pens of lambs which sold for very good prices, values at the spring feature store sheep and lamb sale had reached a steady level when 5951 head were yarded on Wednesday last week at West Wyalong.

Top price paid was $395 a head for 114 April/May 2019-drop first-cross ewes, September-shorn and by Cadell Border Leicester rams from Austral-Eden-blood Merino ewes when offered by PS and PA Wood, Yalgogrin North, in the complete dispersal of their flock.
Other good sales included 145 May/June 2020 drop, September-shorn Merino ewes Wanganella-blood, sold on account Harry and Eric Rowlings, Ungarie, for $320; while TR and TM Cattle, West Wyalong, received $375 for their pen of 80 June/July 2019-drop, first cross ewes, off-shears by Bauer Border Leicester rams from Austral-Eden-blood Merino ewes and GD and VF Koop, Garral, sold 139 July/August 2020-drop April-shorn and Genanegie-blood Merino ewes for $310.
The best presented pen of grown sheep were yarded by John and Barry Johnston, Austral-Eden, West Wyalong, and their offering of 273 June/July 2020 drop Merino ewes, Austral-Eden-blood and June shorn sold for $300.
Among the older ewes, Graham Tulloch, West Wyalong, sold 247 June/July 2016 drop Pastora-blood Merino ewes, not-station-mated and April shorn for $248, while Wallambee Pastoral Co., West Wyalong, received $202 for their pen of 200 Pastora-blood, Septemeber-shorn Merino ewes aged two to five years, and Mallee Vale Pastoral Co., West Wyalong, sold 146 2015-drop, April/May shorn, Bluebush-blood and scanned in lamb to White Suffolk at 172pc for $260.
Matt Goodwin, McClintock Farming, West Wyalong, sold the best presented pen of lambs, 300 unshorn Kiawarra-blood wether lambs April/May 2021 drop for $164.
PS and PA Wood, Yalgogrin North, sold 350 second cross mixed-sex lambs weighing 43.8kg for $225 while their pen of 125 first-cross ewe lambs weighing 39kg sold for $256.
Other store lamb sales included 255 mixed-sex Poll Dorset/Merino lambs weighing 34.4kg sold for $182 on account East Cowal Pastoral, Lake Cowal and the West Pastoral Co, Lake Cowal, sold 136 Merino ewe lambs, Richmond/Mumblebone-blood and unshorn for $150.
PS and PA Wood sold 400 store Merino wether lambs weighing 29kg for $160.
Buyers came from Forbes, Wagga Wagga, Barellan, Griffith and local districts.
The sale was conducted by Quade Moncrieff Livestock and Property and Nutrien Ag Solutions, both from West Wyalong, and was listed on AuctionsPlus.
